I'm Tim/Timothy Urista, a Senior Software Enginee working on AI infrastructure. I've spent most of my career in big tech, including Apple, Meta, and Roku. At Apple, I build secure cloud platforms and UIs that run AI workloads at scale. At Meta, I built a CLI tool for tracing upstream services that teams across the company adopted. At Roku, I built a cost-attribution pipeline for over $10M a quarter in AWS spend and co-led the move from ECS to Kubernetes. Earlier, I worked on healthcare and machine learning products at HealthTrio, Weedmaps, and IterateAI.
Outside of work, I build things. I run TendForm, a form builder that started as a tool for my wife's physical therapy practice and grew into a product for independent practitioners. I'm also working on unalloc, an open-source tool for attributing Kubernetes and LLM inference costs, and I experiment with WebXR training apps for sports and movement.
Before tech, I studied philosophy and religious studies at Occidental College and taught at BASIS in Tucson, where I built my first product: a Python grammar game for my students. That background still shapes how I work. I care about clear explanations, honest tradeoffs, and the questions people skip because the answer seems obvious.
If something I write is wrong or incomplete, tell me in the comments. Some of my best learning has come from those threads.
